Hi! im finn. im assuming you clicked here to learn more about me so here we go, im 18 years old and from boston massachusetts in the united states. im a queer trans guy who loves to learn new things. my family is sicilian and lebanese and just about everybody but me speaks italian. i plan to learn of course, ive been exposed to italian and spanish my whole life along with taking spanish classes for about 5 years. my language interest started in 6th grade when a classmate of mine brought in her japanese notebook for a show and tell type thing we had as an icebreaker. my mother was born in okinawa japan after my grandparents had lived on the kadena airforce base for 6 years, our whole house was furnished and decorated in antique japanese items theyd brought back so the country always intrigued me. i became closer with the classmate and attempted to start learning with her (i wasnt very good and had no clue how to learn a language) it didnt work. i continued being interested in japan and still had a desire to travel there, i watched japanese youtubers or travelers for a while until i kind of grew out of it. fast forward a few years later when i discover bts and k-pop. i started becoming interested in korean culture as well and even had plans to move to beijing with my best friend at the time to teach english after theyd gone on a trip there to meet some extended family. so i started to learn mandarin. once again, i wasnt very good. things with the move didnt work out and i gave up and moved onto learning korean instead! i mastered hangul in an hour and kept going from there. once i had a handle on it and figured out what worked for me i went back to those old youtubers i watched from japan and knew i still wanted to learn so i decided to try again with my new knowledge of how to do all of this. and that is how i ended up where i am now, typing this while in the process of getting a new passport to move to seoul this summer and with a studygram to help me keep track of my progress. im getting my ged and going to get my TEFL along with an online degree in either education or linguistics, maybe even both! but ill stop making you read all of this now, click the links below to follow me on my social medias and feel free to dm me and be friends!
